Grover Mills, longtime Westport-Weston resident and well known contractor-craftsman died September 30th, 2013 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 72. Grover and his sister Gail were born March 23, 1941 at Norwalk Hospital. They were the twin children of Larry and Elizabeth Mills of Westport, CT. After attending Staples High School, he graduated from the University of Bridgeport, married Carol (Kerrie) Eannello and headed to Chile to serve in the Peace Corp. Returning to Westport and after a brief interval teaching, Grover began his building career. Adventurer Mills was an avid sailor, mountain climber and hiker. A music lover, he played guitar, piano and saxophone. Lending a helping hand came naturally to this former Eagle Scout. The skate board installation at Compo Beach is one of many projects that benefitted from his talent. Grover is predeceased by his parents and his twin sister Gail Deitrick. He is survived by his wife Eileen Grace Mills, his son Geoffrey Mills, and niece and nephew Heather and Bob Detrick. A celebration of Grover's life will take place at The Nature Center building on the east end of Sherwood Island State Park on Friday October 11th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Parkinson's Disease Foundation at 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 800-457-6676
