McKenna, John A.
John Arthur McKenna died peacefully at the age of 84 in Stuart, Florida on January 7, 2013. Mr. McKenna was born in Westbury, Long Island and lived most of his life in Fairfield, Connecticut. He graduated from Princeton University with a a degree in aeronautical engineering in 1950 and was also a member of the Varsity Football team. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1952. After graduation Mr. McKenna served as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Mr. McKenna was Executive Vice President of Sikorsky Aircraft where he fulfilled his life's dream of designing and building helicopters with Igor Sikorsky. He then became President and CEO of Simmons Precision. Mr. McKenna later joined Baldwin Technology Corporation as Chairman and CEO. In addition to serving on an aeronautical advisory board at Princeton as well as several corporate boards, Mr. McKenna was a former President of the Country Club of Fairfield. Mr. McKenna was predeceased by his son Peter. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Adele, two daughters: Anne McKenna and Joan Hatheway, and three sons: John, David, and Mark. Mr. McKenna was especially proud of his twenty-one grandchildren and one great grand-son. Donations may be made in John Arthur McKenna's name to Bridgeport Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 9057, Bridgeport, Connecticut, 06601. Services will be held at St. Anthony's Church in Fairfield on Tuesday, January 15th at 11:00.
