Carrafiello, Joseph R.
Joseph Ralph Carrafiello, age 84, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Eleanor Ann Fishelberg Carrafiello, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Cambridge Manor. Born in Bridgeport, Joe had worked for the City of Bridgeport Housing Authority for over thirty five years. He served as the superintendent at Father Panic Village, Greens Apartments, Marina Village and for the last ten years at Harbor View Towers. Joe was the President of the Local Management Union for the housing authority where he enjoyed his work, coworkers, and all of the residents of the buildings that he tended to. He was a bonded and insured precious metals driver for Handy Harmon and Sal's Express. He received a World War II
Victory Medal, having served in the Navy for five years overseas, including French Morocco. Joe was an avid cook and bowler. The Christmas Season was Joe's favorite time of the year because he enjoyed all the outdoor decorating, cooking, the holiday music and most importantly, spending time with his family. In addition to his loving wife, Eleanor, of sixty three years, Joseph is survived by his children, Joy Pontillo, of Bridgeport, Judy Mahony, and her husband, Cole, of Shelton, Jody Carrafiello, and her fiancee, Mark, of Brigeport, Jessica Johnson, and her husband, Dominick, of Massachusetts, Jaimie Cologrossi, and her husband, John, of Stratford, James Carrafiello, and his wife, Patti, of West Haven, and John Carrafiello, of Bridgeport; a grandson, Paul Pontillo, and his fiancee, Ashley, and their child, Kiersten; a sister, Marie Michlovich; a brother, Robert Lesko; several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a special friend, whom was just like family, Steve Voyteck. He was predeceased by three sisters, Stella, Dolly and Dolores; and a brother, Joseph. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 9:15 A.M. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center and 10 A.M. at St. Margaret Shrine, Bridgeport. Interment will be private. Friends may greet the family on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 4-8 P.M.
