Mr. Raymond Joseph Olivia, 72, entered into the rest of his loving Father in heaven on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday, Dec. 13 at Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main Street, Watertown, CT. Burial with military honors will be immediately following at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Olivia was born January 19, 1941 in Bridgeport, CT. He was a son of the late Emil Olivia, Sr. and Sophie Kondracki Olivia. Raymond graduated from Bullard-Havens Technical High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a mason with the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen. He resided for many years in Stratford and Watertown and retired in Kannapolis, NC in 2005. Raymond was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed gardening and golf. He loved the Lord and was an active member of Concord First Assembly in Concord, NC. Raymond is survived by his wife, Carol Lenhart Olivia; six children, Raymond Olivia and wife Yuna of Seymour, Laureen Pompilli of Madison, Tami Olivia Clark and husband John of Concord, NC, Jeffrey Olivia and wife Julie of Concord, NC, Lori Gasparrini and husband Mark of Concord, NC, and Joseph Bednar and wife Jennifer of Chicopee, MA; brother, Emil Olivia, Jr. of Shelton; sister, Sharon Michelwicz of Shelton; and ten grandchildren, Sophia, Ryan, Christopher, Nathan, Anthony, Kenneth, Nicholas, Anna, Ella and Leah. " For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living."
