Makucevich, Stanley M.
Stanley M. Makucevich, age 94, devoted husband to the late Cecilia Markoya Makucevich, formerly of Fairfield, passed away in his sleep on October 11, 2013 in Atria of Stratford. Stanley will be remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues, including three sons, Thomas, of Seattle, WA, Daniel, and his wife, Michele, of Portsmouth, RI, and Michael, and his wife, Patricia, of Stratford; many nieces and nephews In addition to his wife, Cecilia, he was predeceased by his daughter, Mary, his parents, Thomas and Mary Pitek Makucevich, his siblings, John, Estelle, Joseph, Frances, and Edward Makucevich, Helen Biondi. Born in Bridgeport, Stanley resided in Fairfield for 90 years prior to a more recent move to Stratford. A graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Class of 1938, he worked in the plumbing trade, where he learned lifelong skills, and served in the United States Army during World War II
. After several years in the Volunteer Fire Department, Stanley began a 30 year career with the Fairfield Fire Department, retiring as a Captain. He was quietly proud of his work, respected his fellow firefighters, and truly believed in the importance of being there to help those in need. During that time, he also coordinated the Departments annual campaign for the MS and March of Dimes Fundraising. Stanley enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, keeping up with pro football, and was fond of all of God's creatures. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center, with a prayer service to be held at 630PM. His interment will be private.
