Thelma "Peggy" Catlin, age 96, of Shelton, CT, wife of the late Robert T. Catlin, passed away at Bridgeport Hospital on March 19. Peggy had an extraordinary zest for life and a broad range of interests. For over 50 years she volunteered her time producing Braille books for the blind and at the time of her death was Executive Vice President of the Connecticut Braille Association. She was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing duplicate bridge three times a week at local senior centers. Peggy had a lifelong passion for the arts and regularly attended performances at Goodspeed Opera House, Square One Theater, and Long Wharf Theater. She also enjoyed concerts and movies and made a yearly trip to Jacob's Pillow in the Berkshires. She loved writing poetry and often honored family and friends with a personal poem to commemorate a special occasion. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends who loved her. She is survived by her son Jon Catlin and daughter-in-law Elaine Kursch of Emerson, NJ, her daughter Christine Kowalczyk of Windsor, CT, granddaughter Jennifer Carravone and her husband John Carravone of Trumbull, CT, granddaughter Julie Catlin and her husband Michael Rodger of Edgewater, MD, grandson Peter Kowalczyk of Manchester, CT, granddaughter Elizabeth Kowalczyk of Brooklyn, NY, and three great-grandchildren Grace, Scott, and Sean Carravone of Trumbull, CT. Donations in her memory can be made to the Connecticut Braille Association at 44 Imperial Avenue, Westport, Connecticut 06880. Information on a memorial service will be forthcoming.
