Willie James Bendolph

Willie James Bendolph, age 67 of Shelton entered into eternal rest Thursday, September 19, 2013 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Boykin, AL to the late Robert Pettway and Essie Bendolph Falconer, Willie James has been a resident of Shelton for the past twenty-eight years and prior to that he was a resident of Bridgeport for twenty years. Willie served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He later became employed as a truck driver with UPS for twenty-three years and Cottrell Trucking for an additional ten years. He was a member of the Waterbury Church of Christ, however he was initially baptized at the Trumbull Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Coleman Bendolph of Shelton; a son Tracy Pettway of CO; two daughters, Twanda (Derrick) Grey of New Haven and Latoya Bendolph of Washington, DC; four brothers, James of CA, Lee Mack of FL, Mark and Gene of AL; fifteen sisters, Lily, Jerelean and Linda of AL, Lillie of CA, Evelyn and Vanda of FL, Dorothy, Carrie Mae and Cloretta of Bridgeport, Olivia and Alfrerdon of MI, Edith of NJ, Geraldine of Washington, DC, Denise and Janice of NY; six grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Funerals services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013, 10:00 AM at the Trumbull Church of Christ, 2 Drew Circle, Trumbull, CT with Minister Jim Crisp, officiating. Interment will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport with full military honors. Friends are invited to the viewing Saturday from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at the church.
