Lena Izzo Obituary

IZZO Lena Izzo, age 96, of Trumbull, died on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at St. Joseph"s Manor. She was born on October 24, 1907, in Ragusa, Sicily, Italy, to the late Carmello and Theresa Rizza Guardiano. Lena was a retired sewing machine operator in Bridgeport"s garment district. She was a member of St. Ann"s Church in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport. Survivors include her loving daughter, Sylvia Baxter Davis and her husband, Samuel, of Humerock, Mass.; six cherished grandchildren: Allison Bendus of Fairfax Station, Va., Ainsley Ramalho of Fairfield, Lt. Col. Hillary Baxter of Seattle, James Izzo of Jupiter, Fla., Gregory Izzo of Bridgeport, and Teresa Izzo Halasz of Milford; and five cherished great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, Mildred Pekar of Milford. She was predeceased by her husband, Guy Martin Izzo Sr. in 1957; and her son, Guy Martin Izzo Jr. in 1997. The family will be present to receive friends on Friday, August 13, 2004, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Ann"s Church in Bridgeport, with interment to follow in St. Michael"s Cemetery, Stratford. For directions, please visit: www.spadfh.com.
