Charles Fish Obituary

FISH Charles "Scudder" Fish , age 63, of Monroe, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born May 30, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pa., the eldest son of the late Charles H. and Lillian S. Fish formerly of Riverside, Conn., and Pleasant Hill, Tenn. As a youth he became an Eagle Scout. He served in the U.S. Army as a medical specialist. He was a member of Washington Masonic Lodge 19, in Monroe, serving the Lodge as its Marshal and CT-Chip (Child Identification Program) local coordinator for programs and Lodge Outreach CHIP Programs in the Valley area. He worked for the Griffin Hospital in Derby, as a laboratory courier from March 2001. He was well know in the Naugatuck Valley areas representing the hospital and its scope of laboratory services and he was named an employee of the month in November 2004. He served the Connecticut Fire Service for many years and worked for the town of Greenwich Fire Dept. from 1963-1989. He created his own business and worked as a professional fire services consultant across the state and New England from 1989-2001. He was a life member of many fire services organizations in the state of Connecticut and the New England region. He was an adjunct instructor in the fire technology and administration program at the former Norwalk State Technical College. He also served on the State of Connecticut Arson Task Force as a lead instructor for many years and was known as a cause and origin specialist, fire investigator, prior private detective with the State of Connecticut Fire Ratings working closely with attorneys and the insurance industry. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Phelps Fish; his daughter, Elaine E. Fish Botticelli, of Danbury; two stepchildren, Cynthia F. Grosso of, Derby and Carl A. Ford III, of North Branford; three step-grandchildren, Amanda L. Grosso, age 8, of Monroe, Kyle A. Ford, age 7, and Zechariah (Zack) C. Ford, age 9 months, both of North Branford; two brothers, William L. Fish, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Robert H. Fish DMD., of Glastonbury. He also leaves his beloved golden retriever Shelby. Family and friends are invited to attend a masonic memorial service on Saturday, May 14, 2005, at 1 p.m. in the Masonic Washington Lodge 19. 1 Fan Hill Road (on the green), Monroe. Arrangements were entrusted to the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to: Laboratory Development Fund of Griffin Hospital, 130 Division Street, Derby, CT 06418, Attn. Dr. Stephanie Wain MD., or Washington Masonic Lodge 19, 1 Fan Hill Road, P.O. Box 222, Monroe, CT 06468.

I remember Scudder from about 45 years ago, probably while at Eastern Jr. High I remember his involvement in scouting and I'm not suprised to read of the good things he's done for his community. My condolences to his friends and family.

I was a friend to "Scudder" while I

was on the Greenwich Police Dept.

and will always remember the Masonic talks we used to have. My

prayers go out to his family at this time.

I have many fond memories of working with Scudder in the Greenwich FD. I am a 45 yr. member of the fire service and was district chief in Central in the 1970's. Sorry to hear of his passing I am now retired and living near San Diego, CA.
