Salvatore J. "Jack" Castaldi

CASTALDI Salvatore (Jack) J. Castaldi, age 84, husband of Myra K. Sibbons Castaldi, Plantsville, formerly of Stamford, died on Saturday, August 2, 2003. He died in the company of his wife and with all his children close by. Jack was born in New York City, June 30, 1919, the son of the late Alfonso and Leteria Romano Castaldi. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a photo engraver at Wilbar Engraving in Darien. During his career he was very active in the Union (Graphic Arts International) and held both delegate and executive committee positions. He was a veteran of World War II. Serving with the 8181 Engineers Aviation Battalion in Essex, England. It was there that he met and married his wife. Besides his wife, Myra, he is survived by his children and their spouses, John and Nancy Castaldi of Seattle, Wash., Robert and Suzzanne Castaldi of Stamford, David and Lynn Castaldi of Oxford and Alexander and Karen Castaldi of Southbury, Kenneth and Diane Castaldi Swan of Cheshire; two sisters, Viola Lizzo Beechhurst, N.Y., and Helen Danielson of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; and a brother, John CAstaldi of Central Valley, N.Y.; Jack also had 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren at the time of his death. The services and interment will be private. A Memorial service for family and friends will be held at the United Church of Christ, 283 Main Street, North Southbury, on Wednesday, August 6, beginnings at 12 noon. The arrangements are being made by New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain.
