Claire Audrey Lyon Dutton, Age 89, died peacefully on December 22, 2013 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT. She was born December 2, 1924 at United Hospital in Port Chester, NY to the late Walter Winfield Lyon and the late Claire Turnau Lyon. Claire was a lifelong resident of Rye, NY.
Claire was a medical secretary in the medical records department at the United Hospital before retiring after the birth of her daughter. She later went back to work as a child care provider for 25 years where she worked for a local Rye family who had become a large part of her and her family's life. She later retired and moved with her daughter to Trumbull, CT.
Claire will always be remembered for her caring and loving ways who always thought about everyone else before herself.
Claire is survived by her son, James Winfield Dutton of Trumbull, CT, her daughter Barbara Lyon Dutton-Piro and her husband William James Piro of Trumbull, CT, her sister, Gloria Edna Stroetzel of Larchmont, NY and her brother, Walter Winfield Lyon, Jr. of Coconut Creek, FL, her 2 grandchildren, Ashleigh Claire Piro and Tyler James Piro of Trumbull, CT, her niece, Judith Ann Nelson of Norwalk, CT and several other nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Joan Barbara Wilfred, just three months ago.
Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Rye Presbyterian Church, 882 Boston Post Road, Rye, NY. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY. Family and friends are invited to gather at 9:00 a.m. prior to the funeral services at the Graham Funeral Home in Rye, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Kidney Fund in her name.
