Despina "Daisy" Sarris, age 89, of Southington, formerly of Shelton and West Haven, entered into eternal rest on Saturday Jan. 11, 2014 at the Southington Care Center with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Dr. George I. Sarris. She was born in Ansonia on Oct 31, 1924, daughter of the late Angelo and Bessie (Bakirge) Agapiou and a resident of West Haven for most of her life before moving to Shelton and then Southington. Daisy was a medical secretary at Yale New Haven Hospital for 25 years before her retirement in 1989. She was an avid gardener, who loved to do needlework and cook, especially Greek food. She is the beloved mother of Evan Sarris, Sr. and his wife Mary Jo of Shelton, Betsey Sarris and her spouse Evelyn McKay of Plantsville, loving grandmother of Evan Sarris, Jr. and his wife Kendra, Ashley Sarris, Aliya Sarris, and Alberto Sarris. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Greece. She was predeceased by a brother Spiro Agapiou. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
