Donald R. Picard, 76 of Enfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Parkway Pavilion. Born in Fall River, MA on May 25, 1937, he was the son of the late Roland and Lucille (Cayer) Picard. Donald relocated to Connecticut in his late teens and was employed as a welder with Sturm, Ruger & Co. Donald was a man of many trades; from playing the drums to being a do-it-yourselfer handyman, but he especially loved his time spent on his sailboat. A sports enthusiast, Donald cheered on the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics and the NY Giants. He had a love for animals, and showed that with his care for his late dog, Lucy. Donald will be greatly missed by his three children, Jody Blake and her husband, Anastasios Epitropou, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Donald Picard and his wife, Mandy Shekelton, of Manchester, CT and Kevin Picard and his wife, Patricia, of Micco, FL; his three grandchildren, Andrew, Victoria and Matthew Picard; his brother Robert Picard of Bridgeport, CT; his sister Claudette Evarts and her husband, Thomas, of Fairfield, CT; and a niece, a nephew and other loving family members and friends. Funeral services for Donald will be privately held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
