Dorothy Gillespy Corcoran, age 92, devoted wife of the late Arthur J. Corcoran,Sr., of Fairfield, passed away September 9, 2013 in Bridgeport Hospital.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Arthur Corcoran Jr., and his wife, Mary Ann, of Fairfield, Barbara Barry, and her husband, Edward, of Milford, Jan Corcoran, and his wife, Kathy, of Middletown, Marlayne Penney, and her husband, Clyde, of Maine; 14 grandchildren, Christopher, Kenneth, Kyle, Edward, Keith, Traci, Craig, Jeffrey, Kelly, Lindsay, Shelley, Julie, Sean, and Jessica; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Stirna, of Milford; many nieces and nephews. In addition to Arthur, Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, William and Annie Worley Gillespy, 10 siblings, Florence Glynn, Lillian Cutler, Nancy Benson, Marion Cooper, Thomas, Robert, John, Sidney, Ralph, and William Gillespy.
Born and raised in Bridgeport, Dorothy was a resident of Stratford for many years, and moved to Fairfield nine years ago. A dedicated, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, her life's focus was to spend time caring for and enjoying her family.
Her family is grateful to the staffs of both Bridgeport Hospital's Tower 7, and Ludlowe Healthcare & Rehab Center for the wonderful care to Dorothy during her stay.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 1 PM in the funeral home, with the Reverend Ed Duffy officiating. Intement will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
