Ilona Kish Horvath, age 66, beloved wife of Frank Horvath, cherished mother of Steven and Andrea, passed away peacefully in her Fairfield home on September 30, 2013. Born in Hungary, Ilona came to the United States when she was ten years old to live in the Bronx with her family after the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, before moving to Fairfield in 1977. She had worked as a payroll clerk/bookkeeper for the New York Philharmonic for 11 years before staying home to raise her children. Ilona later worked at several regional banks and the Westport Library before her retirement. Ilona loved animals, enjoyed hiking, and vacations to many camping and adventurous outings, including, The Canadian Rockies, The Arctic Circle, and Yellowstone National Park. A devoted wife, Ilona brought dinner to her husband when he worked the later shift at the Fairfield Police Department. In addition to her loving husband, Frank, Ilona is survived by her two children, Steven Horvath and his fiancee, Loan Lee, of Stratford, and Andrea Ngu, and her husband, Cam, of Fairfield; a brother, Andrew Kish, of Larchmont, NY, her mother, Ilona Kish, of Fairfield, and one niece and one nephew. She was predeceased by her father, Andrew Kish. Memorial donations may be directed to the Fairfield Animal Shelter, 211 One Rod Highway, Fairfield, CT 06824. Funeral services will be held on Friday 10:30AM in the funeral home and 11AM in St. Anthony's Church. Friends may greet her family on Friday from 9AM until time of services.
