Jonathan Alan Pressler

PRESSLER Jonathan Alan Pressler, age 52, of Boston, Mass., died unexpectedly Thursday, August 4, 2005 from an accidental fall. He was born in Norwalk, on October 2, 1952, the son of Beatrice (Luber) Pressler and the late Joseph Pressler. A graduate of Staples High School in Westport, he was in the first graduating class of Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass. After receiving his PhD in Philosophy from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he taught Philosophy at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa. from 1983-1989. Upon graduating from The Rochester Institute of Technology, he began his second career creating contemporary furniture for the high-end craft market. His most recent career was as a financial advisor in Boston, Mass. He is survived by his wife, Laura Knecht, of Rush, N.Y., his mother, Beatrice Pressler, of Sarasota, Fla.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Judy Pressler of Shelton, and Ronald and Paula Pressler of Amesbury, Mass.; his nieces and nephews, Matthew Pressler, Lauren Pressler, Maxine, Paul and Aviva Teller; and his beloved cats, Spenser and Marlowe. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, Mass.
