Lynne MacFarlane Obituary
Lynne MacFarlane was born on October 27, 1952 in Middletown, Ohio. She was the only daughter of Charma Jordan MacFarlane, who raised Lynne as a single parent, along with her three brothers, after divorcing Lynne's farther, Victor MacFarlane Sr., while Lynne was still an infant. Lynne passed away on November 1, 2013 in her sleep with her beloved son, Ryan, by her side and family and friends close by. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
Lynne was educated in the public schools of Middletown, Ohio. She was a brilliant student and was accepted to Wesleyan University on an academic scholarship and received her liberal arts degree in [1975]. Lynne was accepted to Yale Law School but decided to get some work experience first. Lynne was a corporate prodigy and quickly achieved much success in to her corporate career in the Human Resources field. Lynne worked in the highest levels of corporate America and was highly respected by all she worked with. She was a pioneer in woman's rights and civil rights in the corporate setting. Lynne brought humanity and compassion to every environment she worked in. Lynne started her career at Aetna Life Insurance Company, worked for several other large corporations, and ended it with Jones Apparel as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Nine West Division.
Lynne was baptized at Bethel AME Church in Middletown, Ohio, where her grandfather was one of the ministers when she was growing up. Lynne was an avid reader and an exceptional cook. Lynne was an unbelievably giving person. She helped to retire and support her mother and other members of her family on a regular basis. Lynne was always there when needed by her family and friends.
Lynne was married to her best friend, George Jett. She had one child, Ryan, who was the joy of her existence. Lynne is also survived by her step-children Jordan Jett and Giselle Jett, her brothers, Barry Pendergrass, Victor MacFarlane (Thaderine) and Andre Anderson, her nephews and nieces, Victor L. MacFarlane, Kyle MacFarlane, Carla Civil (Jean), Ann-Marie MacFarlane, Paul MacFarlane, and her uncles, Otis MacFarlane and Donald H Jordan (Kathy) and numerous other family members and dear friends.
Funeral Services for Lynne will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a 12:00 Noon Service at the Leo P Gallagher & Son Funeral Home 2900 Summer Street Stamford, CT. On Saturday, November 9, 2013 there will be gathering period starting at 11:00 am with a 12:00 noon service at Hall-Jordan Pirdy Chapel Middletown, OH. Burial at Woodside Cemetery Middletown, OH.

I am grateful that physical death is not the end. I take comfort in Lynne's continuing presence among us. Reminding us to take joy in this life...to remember to hold those closest to us and lavish them with love and words of appreciation...to savour good food...to feel the warmth of the sun on our skin...and to do what we can to lift those in need, befriend our neighbors, and never take our family members for granted. Lynne, thank you for your strength, your gift of hospitality, and being willing to open your heart to those like me who count it a blessing to have known you.

I have known Lynne in a professional capacity since the late 1980s. She was very helpful to me in my job (Professor at UConn's West Hartford campus), as she hosted my students on several occasions to her office. Lynne was always very kind and gracious and I am saddened to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to her family.

With tears rolling down my cheeks, I mourn the loss of an old, dear friend from high school. It would be hard to come up with a name of someone from those days that I held more admiration for. She was indeed brilliant, and it was an honor to be her friend. In reading here of all her achievements, I'm not the least bit surprised. I think everyone knew back when we were 16, that she was destined for greatness. I pray for her family at this sad time.
