Winfield, Margueritte
Margueritte "Peggy" Pauline Himpel Winfield, 78, of Milford passed away at home on Monday, February 10, 2014 surrounded by her family. Peggy was born May 18, 1935 in New Haven, CT. She was the wife of 56 years to Ronald V. Winfield. She was the only daughter of Joseph and Mary (Bray) Himpel Jr. of West Haven and Orange, CT. Peggy was the loving mother to Margaret M. Winfield (Louise), Anne M. (Peter) Dube, Julia (Joseph) Weber, Ronald Joseph (Robin) Winfield, and Mary Frances (John) Trapletti. She leaves behind her cousin Patricia M. Spodick of Stratford. Peggy also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Brian and Matthew Winfield, Catherine Dube, Taylor Loughlin, William Weber, Molly Trapletti, plus great grandchild Reagan Winfield.
Peggy was a graduate of West Haven High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State Teacher's College. Before starting her family, Peg taught 3rd grade at the Mary L. Tracy School in Orange.
Her family, spirituality, and strong faith were the centerpieces of Peggy's life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed entertaining, and excelled at cribbage, poker, the WSJ/NYT's puzzles and her iPad. Peg had a special talent for creating beautiful needlework pieces. She also actively followed many sports teams and events.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes Church (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH), 400 Merwin Avenue, Milford, CT on Saturday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Orange Center Cemetery, Orange Center Road, Orange, CT. Friends and family may call at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 North Broad Street, Milford, CT on Friday, February 14th from 4-8 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Lawrence School, 231 Main St., West Haven, CT 06516. I'm so sorry for your loss. Peg was a great lady. I have alot of memories of her & my mom sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee! I'm sure they are at a table in heaven now sharing a cup of coffee!! You & the kids are in my prayers.
