Marie Broderick Varza, age 87, of Fairfield, devoted wife of the late Victor Varza, Sr., passed away on December 12, 2013 in St. Vincent's Medical Center.
Marie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Victor Varza, of Columbia, MD, Dennis Varza, of Fairfield, Gail Santelle, and her husband, Michael, of Trumbull; one cherished granddaughter, Ava Santelle; her siblings, Thomas Broderick, of FL, Catherine Broderick, of Bristol, Robert Broderick, of Shelton, Michael Broderick, of Fairfield, Patrick Broderick, and his wife, Carole, of Wallingford; her nieces and nephews, Carol Heitzler, of NY, Geraldine Burke, of NY, William Varza, and his wife, Janet, of Southbury, Laura Broderick, of Bethel, James Walsh, of NY, Glen Varza, and his wife, Annette, of GA, Celina Broderick, of Wallingford, Robert Broderick, Jr., of MA, Scott Broderick, of MA, Curtis Broderick, of France; several great nieces and great nephews.
Born and raised in Bridgeport, Marie resided in Fairfield for over 65 years. Her true passion in life was to love and nurture her family. A gracious host, the annual Varza & Broderick family picnics held at her home were a wonderful highlight. She touched many family and friends throughout her life and will truly be missed.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-7 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will take place on Monday 9:45 AM in the funeral home and 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Assumption Church. Her burial will follow in Middletown Veteran's Cemetery.
