Rejeanne Caggiano Obituary

Caggiano, Rejeanne
Rejeanne Caggiano passed away on December 24th at her home after an extended illness. She was born on December 10th, 1940 in Massachusetts to parents Patrick and Fernande Begin. Rejeanne grew up in Baldwinville, MA and graduated from Narragansett Regional High School as valedictorian of the class of 1958. She was an extraordinary student and an award winning athlete. After high school she attended the University of Bridgeport, where she earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees in French and education. She then began a career as a teacher of foreign languages and later transitioned to teaching English as a second language, first at English Language Services (ELS) in Bridgeport and New Haven and for the past 20 years at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. She married James V. Caggiano in 1964 in New Britain, Connecticut. They were happily married for over 49 years. Rejeanne was preceded in death by her parents Patrick and Fernande Begin, father-in-law Filomeno Caggiano, mother-in-law Maria Caggiano, brother Norman Begin, and brother-in-law Arlen LeRoy. She is survived by her husband James of Trumbull, CT, her daughter Laura J. Patterson of Trumbull, CT and her son Jay Caggiano and daughter-in-law Andrea Caggiano of Simsbury, CT, her sister Lorraine LeRoy, brother Gerald Begin and wife Kathleen, sister-in-law Deena Begin, brother Robert and wife Bernice Begin, brother-in-law John and wife Tina Caggiano, grandchildren Regina and AJ Caggiano, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She touched many lives both personally and professionally, and will be sorely missed. Rejeanne was an avid reader and devoted UCONN basketball fan. She enjoyed Wii bowling with her grandchildren and had a pronounced devotion to maple walnut ice cream and Mary Jane candy. Sunday meals were a mainstay at her house and her Christmas fudge was a sought after commodity by both relatives and friends. She had yet to find a jigsaw (or crossword) puzzle that could not be completed. Her Catholic faith sustained her throughout her life and she was a model of grace in her final months. A celebratory Mass will be held at Christ the King Church in Trumbull, CT on January 2nd at 10:00 a.m. At the request of the family, the interment at Gate of Heaven cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomas Merton Center, 43 Madison Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06604.

My Deepest Sympathies to Jim, Laura and Jay. Jane was a special woman, who came from special parents. She touched the hearts of many people in her life. She would never forget to send me a beautiful card at Christmas, with warm wishes. Thanks Jane, and give a hug to your parents and mine for me.

Dear Jim, Laura, Jay & Andrea,
May you find solace in knowing that Jeanne is forever in God's loving care. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Caggiano and Begin families at this very difficult time.
With deepest sympathies,
The Patterson Family

Andrea, you have lost a fine woman at such a joyful time of year. She must be giving you a message, a Christmas gift. Such a hard time to get past for your husband and your children, but here is a woman who loved Mary Janes and maple walnut ice cream. She was a teacher, a giver. She was real and made a difference. If only we can all accomplish such feats. I am thinking of you and the family. Martha

Dear Jerry and Kathy: so sorry to hear of the loss of your sister. I remember your sharing with me to pray for her. She sounds like a wonderful woman who left a great heritage to her family and loved ones. I'm too weak to attend funeral but my heartfelt prayers are with you. May you receive the consolation of the Holy Spirit.
