Bensey, Ann R.
Ann R. Bensey, 82, beloved wife of Donald A. Bensey, died Sunday June 30,2013 at her Fairfield home, with her loving family caring for her before she succumbed to pancreatic cancer. Born in Southport, she was a lifelong Fairfield resident. Ann graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and was a former employee of Sturm Ruger & Co. She faithfully served her church, Holy Family of Fairfield, as a Eucharistic Minister, and as a member of the Liturgical Committee and Rosary Guild. In addition to Donald, her devoted husband of 59 years, Ann is survived by eleven children and eighteen grandchildren; daughter Lynn and her husband John Gadacy and grandsons, George and Thomas Gadacy; daughter Donna and her husband Michael Harkins and granddaughters Caitlin and her husband Russell Loesch, and Meaghan and Erin Harkins; son Donald Bensey, Jr. and grandson Donald Bensey III; son Brian Bensey; daughter Mary and her husband Vincent Calzone and grandsons, Vincent Jr., Timothy and Andrew Calzone; daughter Janet Fable and fiancé John Leifels and grandchildren, Jacquie, Kristen and Charles (Teddy) Fable; daughter Ann and her husband James Pleszko Jr., and grandchildren Emily, Michael and Lauren Pleszko; daughter Brenda and Christian Andro and grandsons Nicholas, Anthony and Joseph Andro; and sons John, Glenn and Michael Bensey; a special niece Bonnie Kaczegowicz and many other nieces and nephews; two brothers, Thomas and Joseph Matis and sister Helen Matis. Ann was predeceased by sister Florence Kaczegowicz and brothers, George, John and Walter Matis. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10 am in Holy Family Church in Fairfield followed by interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Calling hours will be on Monday evening from 4 to 7 pm at the Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello, 36 South Pine Creek Road. Special thanks are offered to Ann's long time high school friend Irene Zadravecz for all of her support throughout the years, to her lifelong pen pal Rosamarie McGoldrick and all of her faithful friends at Holy Family Church. Thanks also to VNS Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ann's memory to Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield, CT, 06825.
