During her tenure, the college facility was completely renovated and enrollment increased 40%. The Radiography, Medical Assisting and Cardiovascular programs were added to the degree offerings along with various certificate programs. During this same time the endowment grew from $1 million to $5 million with new monies designated for student scholarships and grants. Dr. Avallone received her BA from Mercy College, NY, a MA from St. John's University, and her EdD from Nova Southeastern University. She was an active member of the Board of Trustees of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), the Board of Directors of the New England College Council (NECC), the Barnum Festival Marketing Committee, the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges, a Trustee of the Association of Health Science Education Consortium, the Commission on Technical & Career Institutions (NEACC), the Connecticut Hospital Association Task Force on Manpower, the St. Vincent's Medical Center Business Ethics Committee, the Board of Directors of the McGivney Community Center, Chair of the Community Health Committee of the Bridgeport Rotary, and a Trustee of St. Vincent's College Board of Trustees.
