SABOL Elizabeth (Betty) Sabol, age 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 18th at the Jewish Home in Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport on August 25th, 1912, the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Gabco, Elizabeth lived for many years in Bridgeport before moving to Stratford in 1962. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and her most cherished moments were times spent with her family. Her favorite pastimes included reading, sewing, and creating beautiful works of needlepoint and embroidery. She was predeceased by her husband, John, and her three brothers, Michael Gabco, John (Anne) Gabco, George (Kay) Gabco, and her sister, Ruth Metz. She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Sharon Sabol of New York City, and Linda (Bill) Rehm of Stratford; her three grandchildren, Beth (Kahlil) Provo of Olympia, Wash., John (Jessie) Rehm of Wallingford, Pa., and Lauren Rehm of Stratford; her great-grandson, Andrew Rehm; and newborn great-granddaughter, Rosalia Provo. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Walter Metz, and niece and nephew, Betty-Lyn and Michael Metz. Her daughters would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Jewish Home on Bennett 5 for their wonderful care and compassion during the five years Elizabeth was at the home. The Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford has been entrusted with arrangements. Private graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport.
