BLAHO Emil A. Blaho, age 80 of Shelton, beloved husband of Ellen Hennessey Blaho, died on Saturday, October 31, 2009. Mr. Blaho was bon in Emporia, Va. on August 3, 1929 to the late Paul J., Sr. and Susie Tomka Blaho and was a lifelong Shelton resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Blaho was the retired co-owner of Blaho & Knapp Builders for 35 years. He was a member of Sokol Lodge #2 in Bridgeport and a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. Mr. Blaho was an avid gardener who especially loved his garlic and tomatoes which he shared with his family and friends. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Ellen, include a son, Emil A. Blaho, Jr. of Shelton; a daughter, MaryEllen Salemme and her husband, Al of Shelton; a sister, Suzanne Simo of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Brianna Blaho, David Salemme, Al Salemme, III and Michelle (Matthew) Civale; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Alexa Civale; a brother-in-law, John Hennessey of Milford; sister-in-law, Patricia Shepard and her husband, Donald of Stratford; sister-in-law, Mary Blaho of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Blaho was predeceased by a son, Steven G. Blaho; by four brothers, John Blaho, Paul J. Blaho, Jr., George Blaho and Joseph Blaho; and by five sisters, Margaret Pavlik, Emily Valovich, Irene Zegarski, Mary Blaho and Anna Brna. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 150 Chapel Street, Stratford. Entombment will be in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery Mausoleum, Derby. Friends may call on Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. in The Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Mr. Blaho's memory.
