ALBER Ernest L. Alber, age 80 of Wallingford, formerly of Stratford, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Masonic Home , Wallingford. Born in New York City, Ernest was the son of the late Carl and Anna Alber. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was a retired auto technician with Wood Ave. Body Shop. He lived in Dallas, TX , Monroe, and Stratford before moving to Wallingford two years ago. He was an active Mason all his adult life and active in the Scottish Rite Lafayette Consistory. He was also an avid bicyclist and rode his bike 50+ miles a day. Survivors include his beloved wife, Joyce Ahlberg Alber of Wallingford; a daughter, Janis Alber Groppi and her husband, Steven of Sea Girt, N.J.;, a brother, Carl Alber and his wife, Joyce of Trumbull; two sisters, Betty Lecza and husband, Roger of Guilford and Carla Marino and husband, Frank of Madison; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Richard Alber and a sister, Doris Kerrigan. Friends are invited to attend memorial services on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford with the Rev. Robert Stuhlmann, officiating. A Masonic service will be conducted by America- St. John # 8 of Stratford in conjunction with the memorial service. Private burial will follow in the Memorial Garden of Christ Episcopal Church.
