Thompson, Eugene G.
THOMPSON-Eugene G. Thompson, 84, beloved husband of the former Linda Grant Clarke, died Friday, Friday June 28, 2013. Born in Caribou, ME, the son of Lynwood and Olive (Walters) Thompson, he spent his adult life in Fairfield. Gene retired from the banking business, South Norwalk Savings Bank, in 1994 after over 40 years of service. Until recently, he, for many years, was a school crossing guard in Fairfield and was also associated with the Sacred Heart University Book Store. Gene always enjoyed a good game of chess and took great pleasure in playing pool and bowling with his son Marc. In addition to Linda, his cherished wife of 52 years, and Marc E. Thompson, his devoted son, he is survived by sisters in law Marcia Clarke Read and her husband Richard of Stuart, FL and Sharon Clarke Fodor and her husband Robert of Stratford. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 10 am in the Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello, 36 South Pine Creek Road, followed by interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
