Francis W. Heim

HEIM Francis W. Heim, age 85 originally of Shelton, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2010, in Burlington, Mass., with family at his side, following an extended illness. Born in Derby on November 1, 1924, he received an Associate in Science degree from the Junior College of Commerce in New Haven, now Quinnipiac University, and retired after 25 years with Sikorsky Aircraft as a financial analyst. Fran, or Frank as he was affectionately known, served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps Reserve during World War II, secretary of the White Hills Civic Club, treasurer of the Huntington/ Shelton Exchange Club, and treasurer and lifetime member of the Shelton High School Father's Club. He was honored by the Father's Club with an annual scholarship given to a graduating Shelton High School student attending college. Fran was also an active 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Council #1350, as well as a 4th degree and honorary life member of the Knights. He was an active member of the American Legion Sutter Terlizzi Post #16 while in Shelton, then Post 0284 in West Acton, Mass., and the United States Marine Corps League. He served as a committeeman for Troop 3 Derby Boy Scouts of America and the Shelton Republican Town Party. Francis was predeceased by his father and mother, Clarence and Katherine Carey Heim; AngelaLee DeMarco Heim, his devoted wife of 51 years; and brother-in-law, Henry P. DeMarco. He is survived by his son, Kurt F. Heim, and daughter-in-law, Carmel of Acton, Mass.; sister, Mary and brother-in-law, Edwin Delventhal of Shelton; sister-in-law, Esther DeMarco; granddaughter, Claudia B. A. Heim; and nephews, Bryan, Thomas, and Paul DeMarco, Bruce and Mark Delventhal; and nieces, Leeann Whelan, Bobbie Tarpay, Kathy DeMarco Convertini, Susan Delventhal, and Alice Dillon. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. On Saturday his funeral procession will leave the parlor at 8:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, Father Salemi Drive, Ansonia. Interment with full military honors will be at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, P.O.
