George Clinton McKesson Perry, Jr. age 82 of Madison, CT, formerly of Manhasset, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2013. He was born in Queens, NY in 1930 to the late George Clinton McKesson Perry, Sr. and Jeanette Fenning Perry.
He was a descendant of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry and George Clinton, first Governor of New York and Vice-President of the United States from 1805 to 1812.
Clint was raised in Great Neck, NY and graduated from Adelphi University. He was a long time member of the Seventh Regiment of NYC and a 1st Lieutenant in the Army. As a passionate sailor and lover of the sea, he was an active member of Manhasset Bay Yacht Club for over 30 years. He and his wife Jean Churbuck Perry raised their family in Manhasset and lived there for 26 years. They resided in Madison, CT for another 17 years.
He had a genuine love of family, friends and life. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Jean, his loving children, Nina Perry Cahill and her husband, Mike of Southport, CT, James Clinton Perry of Bangkok, Thailand and Susan Perry Morgenson and her husband, Russ of Seattle, WA. He adored his grandchildren, Michael Abbott and Emily Markham Cahill of Southport, CT and Alec Perry and Tyler David Morgenson of Seattle, WA.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Southport Congregational Church at 524 Pequot Ave, Southport, CT. A reception will immediately follow the service. Interment will be private. The Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Clinton's name to The Center of Elder Abuse Prevention at the Jewish Home in Fairfield.
