MARINI Giovanni Marini, age 91, beloved husband of Maria Marini of Bridgeport, died on Friday, September 19, 2003, in his home following a brief illness. Born in Torrice, province of Frosinone, Italy, on November 29, 1911, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Filomena Arduini Marini. Mr. Marini was an Italian Army Veteran of World War II and immigrated to the U.S. in 1954, and had since been a Bridgeport resident. He was a construction worker employed with the Connecticut Laborers Union, Local 665 of Bridgeport. He worked with the former Zandonella Construction Co. for many years until retiring in 1974. Mr. Marini was a communicant of St. Raphael's Church, Bridgeport, and was a kind and humble man who enjoyed working in his garden and relished making his homemade wine. He enjoyed the company of his children, grandchildren and many friends. He was always willing to lend a hand and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his spouse of 56 years, Mr. Marini is survived by his devoted children, Lorenzo Marini and his wife, Holly, of Monroe, Vincenza Marini and her husband, Livio, and Maria Luongo and her husband, Vincenzo, all of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Angela Stuebben and her husband, Kurt, of N.J., Anthony Luongo and his wife, Linda, of Monroe, Vincenzo Luongo Jr. of Bridgeport, Charlotte Marini and John Carl Marini, both of Monroe; great-granddaughters, Nicole Stuebben and Isabella Luongo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 8:45 a.m. from the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike (Route 111), Monroe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine, 2539 Park Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment will be in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
