Sr., Graciliana
Sister Graciliana, affectionately known as Sister Grace, died at the age of 106 having served as a Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth for 91 years. Sister Graciliana, the former Wanda Rafalowska, was the youngest of seven children born to Joseph and Veronica (Moroz) Rafalowski. A native of Worcester, Massachusetts, Sister attended St. Mary's Elementary School (in Worcester) and Nazareth Academy in Philadelphia, PA. In 1922, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family. After earning a degree in the field of elementary education, Sister taught for 60 years in various schools in Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. In 1986, Sister retired to Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent, Monroe, CT. She enjoyed her retirement years crocheting, engaging in various arts and crafts projects, reading and corresponding with family and friends. After a brief illness, Sister Graciliana passed away on December 18, 2012. Sister is survived by her nieces, grand-nieces and grand nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary convent, Monroe. Interment will immediately follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 3pm-5pm at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent, Monroe, CT. For online condolences please visit Spadaccino and Leo P.
