Borner, Harry
Harry Borner, age 92 of Stratford died peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT. He was the beloved husband of Trudy Burns Borner. Harry was born in Hamden, CT on March 5, 1920, son of the late John Borner and late Mary Horichko Borner. He was a Stratford resident for 58 years. Harry and Trudy were married for 70 years and were parishioners of Saint James Church in Stratford, CT. He graduated from New Haven Commercial High School in 1938. Harry was employed at the Bassick Company for 38 years as a tool setter and retired in 1985. He is a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Navy, Aviation Machinist Mate Third Class, Aircraft Carrier Service Unit in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Harry enjoyed reading, polka dancing, and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren for his ability to make them laugh by making silly faces and getting them into trouble. He was always willing to lend a helping hand for family members, friends, and neighbors. Harry enjoyed working with his hands and no project was too big or too small. His son-in-laws are grateful for all the help he provided over the years. He is survived by two daughters: Trudy Gardecki and her husband, Dan, of Stratford and Joan Duda and her husband, Jim, of Monroe; four grandchildren: Dan Gardecki, Jr. and Carol, Joni Marie Yale, Jenifer Magliocco and Angelo, and Janine Duda-Hennessey and Todd; four great grandchildren: Ashley and Brooke Hennessey and Ayden and Adisyn Magliocco and several nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by three brothers: John Borner, Michael Borner, and Steven Borner and a great grandson, Angelo James Magliocco. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A special thank you to Dr. David Lastomirsky for the excellent care he provided for Harry and for the support he has given to the family. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10:30 am at St. James Church, 2110 Main St., Stratford for family and friends to celebrate his life.
