ANDREWS Lewis Davis Andrews, age 85, of Monroe, beloved husband of Beatrice (Hawley) Andrews, died Friday, January 14, 2005 at his home. Mr. Andrews was born on February 19, 1919, in Bethel, a son of the late George F. and Luella (Davis) Andrews. He grew up in Easton with his grandparents, was married in April 1942, serving during World War II and was discharged as a sergeant. Mr. Andrews retired as a senior vice president from the former City Trust Bank where he worked for 43 years. He later worked for New England Kitchen Design where he worked for 15 years. He served as the former Monroe Town Treasurer, as former chairman for both the Board of Finance as well as for the Board of Tax Review. He was a member of the Stepney Fire Department, the Monroe Auxillary Police, the American Legion and he was also a Mason belonging to the Washington Masonic Lodge 19. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Monroe, and he also served as a Justice of the Peace. Lewis received the Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds for his many years of Civic Duty. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beatrice (Hawley) Andrews of Monroe; devoted children, Lewis D. Andrews Jr. and his wife, Christina, of Alexandria, Va., and Betsy Galian of Cheshire. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Rebecca Galian, Jeffrey Galian, Mary Andrews and William Andrews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 17, 2005, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, on the Green, in Monroe. Interment will follow in the Cutlers Farm Cemetery in Monroe. Family and friends may call on Sunday, January 16, 2005, from 3 until 7 .p.m. in the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Route 111, in Monroe.
