Mary LaReau Obituary

LAREAU Mary M. LaReau, age 94, of Shelton, entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in the Griffin Hospital, Derby. Mrs. LaReau was the devoted wife of the late Wilfred E. LaReau. She was born in New York, New York on October 18, 1913, daughter of the late Matthew and Margaret Donleavy Morris, and was a resident of Shelton for 21 years. She previously lived in Bridgeport. Mary was a 56-year survivor of cancer. In 1978 she earned her high school diploma and then went to the Housatonic Community College, were she graduated in 1982. She was a kitchen volunteer at the St. Lawrence carnival for many years. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was the beloved mother of Gerald LaReau, Richard LaReau, and his wife, Patty, Donald LaReau, and his wife, Bonnie, and William LaReau, and his wife, Linda and the late Monica LaReau. She also leaves a sister, Margaret Sabo; seven cherished grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three brothers Matthew, Edward, and John Morris; and two sisters, Jane Lombard, and Ann Reagan. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. On Friday her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Shelton. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery Stratford. At the request of the family, memorial contributions can be made to Swim Across the Sound, St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport CT 06606.
