Boykin, Maxine B.
Mrs. Maxine B. Boykin of Bridgeport, CT went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. She was born on November 28, 1926 to the late John and Ida Cosby in Bridgeport, CT.
Maxine grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from Central High School. She worked for Saint Vincent's Hospital, Bridgeport Board of Education and retired from the State of CT Department of Mental Health after 16 years of service. She was a member of Mount Aery Baptist Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Colonel Charles Young American Legion Post 140.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Oliver Henry Vining (Hank) Bridgeport, CT and Spencer Boykin III (Butchy) Washington, DC; two daughters, Sandra E. Vining Orange, CT and Maxine M. Boykin (Cathy) Bridgeport, CT; four grandchildren: Dawn Vining, Lamar Kennedy, Marissa Boykin and Brianna Boykin; one great-grandson, Kurtis Kennedy and a host of family and friends. She was predeceased by her aunt, Maxine Crothers and uncle, Cleveland Crothers.
A wake will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm at Baker-Isaac Funeral Services, 985 Stratford Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06607. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Mount Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank St, Bridgeport, CT. The viewing will begin at 9:00 am until the time of service at 10:00 am. The Rev. Anthony L. Bennett will be officiating. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Baker-Isaac Funeral Services of Bridgeport, CT.
