BARBER Richard "Fishman" T. Barber, Jr., age 54, of Milford beloved husband of 11 years to Beverly Judson Barber, who in him found her soulmate and love of her life, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2010 after a courageous four year battle with cancer. Rich was born in Bridgeport on August 5, 1955 to Richard T., Sr. and Diane Chapman Barber of Milford and was a lifelong Milford resident. He enjoyed life as a young man (carousing and having fun). His passion was the water and cars. With Austin by his side, he was a 3rd generation oysterman and would go tuna fishing in Montauk and Florida. He had an impressive bottle collection that he dredged up from wherever he was working at the time. Rich was a mechanic as well and loved old cars and spoke often of his Gran Torino that he had as a teenager. He was also very proud of his bright orange ' 69 Chevy Nova that he fixed up for Beverly. Rich attended Jonathan Law High School and graduated with a mechanics degree from the Florida State Department of Education. He was a regular at St. Gabriel's Church. Rich had a lot of friends and acquaintances in Milford and will miss being called "Grampy" by the light of his life, Noelle. In addition to his wife, Beverly and parents, Richard, Sr. and Diane, he will be greatly missed by two sons, Jimmy Auger (Christine) of Stratford and Patrick Auger (Katie) of Trumbull; two daughters, Marianne Rosselli (Chris) of Milford and Sandi Auger (Ed) of Florida; four sisters, Dawn Williamson of Milford, Robin Warcholic (Alton) of West Haven, Delight Zadrozney (Zbiggy) of Shelton, Deidre Barber of Milford; three grandchildren, Aaron, James and Noelle, five nieces, Melissa, Nicole, Cherish, Jessica, Michelle and Samantha and a nephew, Tyler. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in The Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Wednesday 4-to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the
