Ronald Joseph Szamatulski, 80, died on May 5, 2013. He was the son of the late MaryAnn and Michael Szamatulski. Ron proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and was assigned to the U.S.S Lake Champlain. He was a steamfitter & plumber who was employed by numerous companies throughout the area and a member and a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentice of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada. He was a devoted lifelong member of the Polish Parish of St. Michael the Archangel Church where he was an usher and active parishioner. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ron had a generous heart and was always there for anyone who needed help. He loved cooking, gourmet food, restaurants, nature and the outdoors. The Yankees, Celtics and Duke were his sports teams and he was a loyal fan. Ronald was predeceased by his sister Dolores Szamatulski, brother Stanley Szamatulski and great-niece Sara. He is survived by his sister-in-law Lorraine Szamatulski, his niece Laura Szamatulski of Trumbull, Lyn Szamatulski of West Palm Beach, FL, and Mary Pulido and Husband Jorge of Riverdale, NY., and his nephew Mark Szamatulski and wife Tess of Trumbull, CT., and their children Noella, Paulette, and Robert, and their three grandchildren and nephew; David Szamatulski and wife Deanna of Grandview, TX. And their children Amberly, Julie, Kasey and Spencer, and one grandchild, and a loving extended family and circle of friends. Friends are invited to go Directly to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Bridgeport, on Wednesday May 8th at 1pm where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull with full military honors. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday May 7th from 4 to 7pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Church, 310 Pulaski St. Bridgeport, Ct. or to the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, 161 William St. 9th Floor, New York, NY, 10038.
