Dolan Mulkern, Susan
Age 56, of Stratford, entered into eternal rest at her home on Friday, March 15, 2013 with her beloved canine companion, Missy, there by her side. Susan was born in Bridgeport to the late Harold Dolan and Nancy Dolan Gura. She had been a lifelong Stratford resident. Susan was a very proud mother and grandmother. She was very outgoing and friendly. Susan loved to sing and had belonged to the St. James Resurrection Choir. She was a member of the Blue Star Mothers. She is survived by three children, Adam Mulkern and his wife, Jillian, Sara Mulkern and Noelle Mulkern, all of Stratford; six grandchildren, Christopher Mulkern, Daniel Gillespy, Jr., Jesse Gillespy, Austin Gillespy, Elijah Mulkern and Samantha Mulkern; one sister, Jan Skarupa and her husband Stephen of Shelton; three brothers, James Dolan of Maine, Hugh Dolan and his wife, Rita of Fairfield and Paul Dolan of Maine; her former husband and friend, Charles Mulkern of Stratford; friend and sister-in-law, Kathleen Mugford of Stratford; special niece, Jennifer Dolan; special nephew, Chuck "Chollie" Sakowicz; special great-niece, Jade Vega; one aunt; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 10:30 am at St. James Church with a Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Thomas J. Lynch. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a fund for the sole benefit of her grandson, Jesse, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, c/o Adam Mulkern, 1 Monroe St., Norwalk, CT 06854.
