Tecla Baratta White, of Fairfield CT and Palm Beach, formerly of New Canaan Ct. passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. She was the devoted wife for over 60 years of husband, Thomas P White II, who predeceased her in Oct 2012. They are now joined together in Heaven. Tecla was born in the North Bronx in 1929, also living in Perdy's NY and in Point Lookout, Long Island throughout her childhood and early adult life. She graduated Barnard College with a BA in History and worked briefly at CBS. She married Thomas P White who served as a Captain in WWII. They eventually settled in New Canaan, CT where they brought up their three children. Later she worked as a 5th grade teacher in New Canaan and at then company, Richason-Vicks in Wilton. Tecla and her husband were one of the original members of the Country Club of Darien. She will be missed by all who knew her, well known for her beautiful, loving and generous spirit. She selflessly devoted most of her years to being a devoted wife and loving mother. She adored having her family around her, was a great cook and an avid gardener always surrounded by beautiful flowers from her own garden. She is survived by her 3 children, Tommy White of Palm Beach FL, Conrad White of Wilmington , NC and Nicole White Kennedy of Raleigh NC, and their respective spouses; Marilena White, Alison White and Parker Kennedy. She is also survived by her brother in law Bill White and his wife Pat, of NY, and several nieces and nephews A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road Fairfield. Entombment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Family and friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
