ARMOUR William A. Armour, Jr., age 78, of Milford, be loved husband of Janet Pond Armour, died on Friday, April 30, 2010. Mr. Armour was born in Derby on April 19, 1932 to the late William A. Armour, Sr. and the late Bernice Barclay Skelding and was a longtime Milford resident. He was retired from Raybestos Co. where he was employed for 28 years as a leadman in production. Mr. Armour was also the owner & operator of Michael's Hobby Shop. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and attained the rank of Staff Sargeant. He was involved in the building of the first radar station in Iceland during the war. Mr. Armour was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1949 and the University of Bridgeport with a B.S. in Business. He was a member of VFW, Post #7788 where he was a leader of the Drill Team. He was a longtime active parishioner of St. Ann Church. Mr. Armour was an avid Red Sox Fan and was a master craftsman which was reflected in his painting of military miniatures, carvings and boat models. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Janet, include his two sons, William A. Armour, III and his wife, Kelly of West Haven and Scott P. Armour and his wife, Julie of Hamden; his daughter, Jan Marie Birch and her husband, John, Jr. of West Haven; two brothers, David Armour (Maureen) of Milford and John Skelding (Pat) of Fla.; two sisters, Betty Ann Raynor (Robert) of Milford and Shirley Armour of Fla.; four grandchildren, Robert S. Armour, John R. Birch, III, Shaina Birch and William A. Armour, IV; four step-grandchildren, Jesse, Joseph, Kimberly and Christine; a step-great-grandson, Nathan and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Armour was predeceased by his infant daughter, Theresa and by a brother, Ricky. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Ann Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Milford.
