Kapitan, William (Bill) Kapitan age 87, of Virginia Beach, VA beloved husband of Julia (Julie) Tichy Kapitan passed away peacefully on August 20, 2013 in his residence with his loving family by his side. Bill was born on July 30, 1926 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Krivda Kapitan. He was a United States Army veteran and served his country in World War II. Bill retired from the Bridgeport Police Department where he served as a police officer for over 25 years. After retiring Bill worked as the head of security for People's Bank. He was an avid bowler and New England Patriots fan and enjoyed playing cards especially pinochle. Bill was a very proud, moral and honest man who loved spending time with family. In addition to his beloved wife Julie of 63 years, Bill is also survived by three sons Thomas Kapitan and wife Carol of Fairfield, James Kapitan and wife Diana of Bridgeport and Richard Kapitan and wife Joann of Stratford, one daughter Carol Angelo and husband Louis of Virginia Beach, VA, nine grandchildren Tara and husband Joe, Laura, Heather and husband Mark, Tom Jr. and wife Lisa, Cristina, Manda and husband Dave, Patricia, Steven and Amy, five great grandchildren James, Tristan, Delaney, Megan and Kelly, one brother Amel Kapitan and wife Helen of San Diego, CA, one sister Kay Foldy and husband Stephen of Fairfield and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by one brother Edward Kapitan. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM directly in Holy Family Church 700 Old Stratfield Road Fairfield where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Guido Montanaro. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery Fairfield with Full Military Honors.
