Ross, William
William Wells Ross passed away on June 16, 2013, born January 10, 1922 in Orange City, IA. He graduated Northwestern Junior College and Cornell College both in Iowa. His graduate training was in Theology at Boston University where he emerged as an ordained minister for the United Methodist Church. During student ministry in Townsend, MA, he married Jean MacDonald in 1944. They had three sons together, William Howard, Robert Ellis and David Allen. During that time Rev. Ross held churches in Peterson, IA, Lindenhurst, NY, Plainville, CT, and Easton, CT. His marriage to Jean ended and, after several years, married Ella Betsy Case in 1964. Bill and Betsy together had three children, James W, Leola Betsy and Varick Thomas. Pastoral appointments included Staten Island , NY, Ellenville, NY, West Granby and Simsbury, CT, Hancock and Philmont, NY and Stamford, CT. Rev. Ross retired in 1991 from Roxbury and Ridges UMC. Bill has six grandchildren: SaraBeth, Jeannette, Katielyn, Elizabeth, Samantha, and Casey Spiers , a daughter-in-law Rose Lachance Ross, a son-in-law William J Spiers, and Thom's partner Melanie Pendleton. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ella Betsy and his son Robert E. Donations may be made to Plainville United Methodist Church, Enfield Congregational Church, or any Masonic charity. A memorial service will be held at Plainville United Methodist Church at 11 AM on June 29, 2013 with a reception to follow at the Congregational Church of Plainville
