Robert Owen Condon

CONDON Robert Owen Condon, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Joan Costello Condon died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Hartford on August 31, 1926, he was the son of the late Margaret Light Condon and Robert W. Condon. Robert was a lifelong resident of Fairfield and a 1944 graduate of Roger Ludlow High School. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving 1944 to 1946 in the Asian Pacific on the U.S.S. Lenore. Following the War Robert graduated from Manhattan College with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1950. He was the owner of Southern Connecticut Calculators and retired in 1990 after being in business in Fairfield and New Haven Counties forty years. Robert was a member of American Legion Post 143 in Fairfield and a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield. In his spare time he enjoyed golf. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years Joan, devoted daughters, Linda Condon Tippy of Huntington, NY, and Margaret Condon Brown and her husband William of Windham, Maine; grandchildren, Glenn Tippy, Kristan Brown and Megan Brown York and her husband Mark; great grandson, Brock York; sister-in-law, Mary Collins Condon of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Thomas Condon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. meeting directly at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield with a Mass of Christian Burial.
