Cecelia (Fasczewski) Sliwinski, age 90 of Stratford, beloved wife of over 50 years to the late Vincent P. Sliwinski passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on September 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Sofia Fasczewski and grew up in Trumbull and Bridgeport. Cecelia was a kind and generous person who made many friends throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home, and was an excellent cook. She was also very religious and never missed mass or the opportunity to contribute to
. She was a hard worker and worked most of her married life, most recently at Warner Packaging and Sikorsky Aircraft, to provide for her family. In 1982 she retired and moved to Delray Beach, Florida, until 2010 when she moved to Stratford. She was amazingly strong, surviving several major surgeries, but never complained. She is survived by her two sons, Richard T. Sliwinski and his wife Lisa and their three children, Joseph, Nicholas and Lauren, Robert V. Sliwinski and his wife Susan and their son Kevin all of Stratford. She is also survived by her two sisters Helen Tulinski and Florence Pace, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lillian Ladyko and Janet Barton. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bridgeport Hospital, especially her surgeon, Elizabeth Honigsberg, for their excellent care and support during Cecelia's recent illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 10am "Directly" in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford followed by entombment in St. Michaels Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may call on Friday February 14, 2014 from 4 to 8pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport.
