Jayne Annette Kuchma, of Stratford, reposed in the Lord on Sunday, February 16, 2014, with her family at her bedside, after a long illness. The daughter of Nina Maximena Kuchma and the late Philip Kuchma Sr., Jayne was born in Bridgeport on November 7, 1957. As a lifelong Stratford resident, she was a former employee of St. Vincent's Medical Center and a current officer of Kuchma Corporation in Bridgeport. Jayne was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Mary's Protection and a former Sunday school teacher, church board member, and president of the Sisterhood. Jayne's affiliations include the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, Leadership Greater Bridgeport, and the Orthodox Women's Council. Jayne brought comfort and happiness to many with her generosity to those in need, especially through The Umbrella's Adopt-a-Family and The Pajama Program. Jayne is survived by her mother, Nina Maximena Kuchma of Stratford; her beloved companion, Kevin Breksa of New Rochelle, NY; her brother Philip Kuchma (Mary Beth) of Bridgeport; sisters Eve Nucifora (Richard) of Milford, Stefanie Kuchma (Dennis Wade) of Ansonia, and Mary Porter (Bill) of Monroe. Also surviving are nieces Jenn Maroney of Albany, NY, Denise Moller (Daniel) of Ruston, LA, Katherine Porter of Bridgeport, Jillian Porter of Groton, Colleen McQuay (Derek) of Provo, UT, and Maggie Porter of Monroe; nephew and godson William Porter (Carolan) of Fall River, MA; godchildren Erica Ragucci of St. Petersburg, FL and Benjamin Kristof of Westlake, OH; great nephews Zachary, Maxwell, and Nathaniel Moller of Ruston, LA; and her best friends Joann Santone and Joanie Kusha of Stratford, and many cousins and friends. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her grandparents, aunts and uncles, and her beloved dogs, Azure Blue and Skye.
Jayne enjoyed NASCAR races, music, and travel. She loved spending time with family and friends and never stopped believing in the magic of Christmas. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Mary's Protection, 10 Oakwood Street, Bridgeport, at 10am on Saturday, February 22. Calling hours will be at the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford on Friday, February 21 from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jayne's memory may be made to her church through the funeral director.
