Zadravecz, Helen
Mrs. Helen (Pagliuco) Zadravecz, 88, of Fairfield, the loving wife of the late John Zadravecz, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. A treasured mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt, she was the eighth of ten children born to the late Luigi and Nancy Pagliuco of Fairfield.
Mrs. Zadravecz was born on November 14, 1925 in the Tunxis Hill area of Fairfield and resided in Fairfield all of her life. She worked at General Electric on the assembly line; Kuhn's Hot Dog Stand in Fairfield and became a very familiar face at the Donut Inn on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield where she worked during her later years.
"Ubby," as she was affectionately known, was truly loved by all of our family. Always putting family first, she helped everyone in any way she possibly could. Her door was always open any time of day or night, and her home became the gathering place for many holiday functions, parties and picnics. Her welcoming spirit and generosity will be sorely missed.
The Zadravecz family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent's for the wonderful care shown to Helen during her time there and also for the comfort and support they provided to the entire family during Helen's final difficult days.
She is survived by her devoted son, John, and his wife, Vickie, and a loving granddaughter, Ashley, all of Fairfield and two step-grandchildren, Keri Brannan of Arizona and Kyle Brannan of Fairfield. She will also be missed by her brother, Alfred Pagliuco of Trumbull; a sister, Nancy Vernoci of Fairfield; two sister-in-laws, Helen Pagliuco and Carole Pagliuco of Fairfield; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Zadravecz was predeceased by three brothers, Phillip, Domenic and Louis Pagliuco, and four sisters, Josephine D'Albora, Madelyn D'Albora, Marie Palenchar and Rose Mastronardi.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday March 6, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church, Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield.
