Novella Mendoza, 90, wife of the late Esteban Mendoza, Sr., entered into eternal rest Sunday, March 9, 2014 in Ludlow Center for Health. She was affectionately known as "Mother Mendoza", was born on June 20, 1923 to the late Lee and Annie Mae Davis. She was gainfully employed by Ruth Glendinning for many years as a Domestic Worker. Prior to her illness, she was a faithful and active member of St. John Community Church for more than 30 years, the North End Progressive Seniors, and North End Community Council, all of Bridgeport. Left to cherish her memory are 3 children; Esteban Mendoza, Jr. (Mae) of South Carolina, Anthony Battle of Ohio, and Tracey Cogrington of Bridgeport; 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren; 2 Sisters, devoted friends Axsie Worrell of Bridgeport, and Diane Brown of Michigan, her St. John Community Church Family, as well as, a host of other family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by 2 brothers and 1 sister. A service of Celebration will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the Chapel of Morton's Mortuary, 25 Margaret Morton Lane, Bridgeport, with Pastor John W. Mouning, D.P.D.S.L. and Pastor Rovena H. Mouning officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Ave., in Bridgeport, CT. Friends may greet the family from 9:00am until time of service in the Chapel at the Mortuary. Arrangements are entrusted to Morton's Mortuary.
