Collins, Maria
Maria Collins, 54, of South Burlington, VT, peacefully passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 25th, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous seven month battle with cancer. Our angel, Maria, has now entered into eternal paradise. Maria was born on December 7th, 1959, in Bridgeport, CT, to Nicholas and Sophia Magoulas. Maria grew up in Monroe, attending Masuk High School, where she excelled in basketball, as well as academics. She was a true star! Maria was the first in her high school to score 1,000 points. She graduated from the University of New Haven and was currently employed by Fletcher Allen Health Care. Her biggest passion was being a mother to her daughter, Kimberly, and her son, Steven, who she selflessly dedicated her life to. She loved playing tennis, and formed many close friendships with her infectious personality and big smile. She was an amazing woman, always willing to give to others, with her beautiful loving spirit. Maria truly had a heart of gold and lived life to the fullest in every way. Maria is survived by her children, Kimberly and Steven Collins, her parents, Nicholas and Sophia Magoulas, siblings, Cathryn and Jim Greer, Chuck Magoulas and Mary Andreotta, Melissa and Butch Cook and Michael Magoulas. She is also survived by her ex-husband, Mark Collins, nieces and nephews, Jaime Durchak, Nicole Durchak and fiancé Ian Potts, Nicholas, Alex and Chad Magoulas, Ken and Nicole Cook, Michael Cook and fiancé Ashley Noury, Allison and Nicholas Magoulas, and her great niece, Carter Cook. Maria leaves behind many loving extended family members, including her Aunt Billie Lycoudes and her Uncle Andrew Hallas. She leaves to mourn several loving cousins and many lifelong friends. Maria spent the last several months surrounded by her large, loving family and special friends. Our thanks to all who cared for her, including Chris Everton, who was always by her side.
