Arnold Bryan Carlson , age 71, of Southport, beloved husband of Geraldine "Gerri" Carlson , passed away peacefully at St. Vincent's Medical Center on Friday, March 28 after a long illness. In addition to Gerri, his devoted wife of 48 years, Bryan's memory will be cherished by his sons, Mark Carlson and his wife Nellys, of Southport, Bryan Carlson and his wife, Julie, of California; His beloved grandchildren Mark Carlson, Cameron Dalling, and Nathan Byler, as well as Gregory and Ines Strengowski, who were thought of as grandchildren. He also leaves behind a Brother-in-law, Joseph Bertini and his wife Nancy, of Southport; Very special nieces and nephews, Patti Zachariadis, Robert Shields, Mary Atkinson, William Shields, Bruce Hoyt, and Rachel Bertini. He was predeceased by his sister Carol Coffin. Born and raised in the Springdale section of Stamford, Bryan was the son of the late Arnold and Delores Kallmann Carlson. A resident of Southport for 48 years, Bryan was a retired Manufacturing Supervisor for C.R. Gibson, in Norwalk. During his career, he had also worked for Laminated Shim in Stamford, Bead Chain in Bridgeport, and more recently for Norwalk Self Storage and Buildner Capitol. Throughout his life, Bryan found many hobbies to keep himself busy and happy. Bryan loved most of all the special times he had with his family. Besides being a car enthusiast, Bryan also found peace in gardening, coin collecting, time spent on the water fishing, and the special times he had with his grandson. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 4-8 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:45 AM at the funeral home and 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Church in Fairfield. His interment will be private.
