MacDaniel, Francis J.
MacDaniel, Francis (Mac) J. MacDaniel, age 93, beloved husband of Norma Glancy MacDaniel, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Cambridge Manor, Fairfield. Mac was the son of the late Edward and Mildred Alvord MacDaniel. A graduate of the Junior College of Connecticut, he received his business degree from Boston University. Mac retired as the purchasing manager for Winchester Electronics, Watertown, was past president of the Connecticut Association of Purchasing Management and an instructor in evening classes at Western Connecticut State University. He served in the Air Force in World War II earning the Air Medal with clusters and four battle stars flying combat missions with the 15th Air Force. Mac was a member of the 454'th Bomb Group Association and the Grandfathers Bowling League. In addition to his beloved wife of 64 years, he is survived by four devoted daughters, Patricia Manion and husband Jerry of Sandy Hook, Joan Bissonnette and husband Andy of Bridgewater, MA, Laurie Huebner and husband Allen of McKinney, TX and Amy Gavaghan and husband Michael of Monroe, ten grandchildren, Sara Cooney and husband Geoff, Patrick Manion and wife Sarah, Laurie Manion, Bryan Bissonnette, Sean Gavaghan, Shane Huebner, Samantha Bissonnette, Eric Gavaghan, Dylan Huebner and Meghan Gavaghan, two great grandchildren, Liam and Alana Cooney; also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Germain. He was the most loving father and grandfather. He loved sports, whether it was golfing with his buddies or sons-in-law, watching the New York Giants, UConn basketball, or the Red Sox with his wife and best friend, Norma. He made friends wherever he went, drawn by his love of jokes and twinkle in his blue eyes. He will be missed forever. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport 06606, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private with full military honors in St. Michael's Cemetery. There will be no prior calling hours. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation/Swim Across the Sound, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606.
