Bepko, Richard P.
Richard P. Bepko, age 82, of Shelton, formerly of Bridgeport, died on Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Attorney Bepko was born in Bridgeport to the late Frank and Katherine Lyons Bepko. He graduated from Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University. He received his juris doctorate degree from Boston College.
Attorney Bepko was a principal in the Bepko and Bepko Law Firm in Bridgeport along with his late brother, Thomas J. Bepko. He continued his law practice for over 50 years with the expertise and assistance of his long time employee and cousin, Marilyn Lincoln. Attorney Bepko was appointed by Mayor Leonard S. Paoletta, and reappointed by all succeeding mayors, as a member of the Bridgeport Zoning Board of Appeals. He retired as chairman of the ZBA after 23 years of service.
He was a very active with the Fairfield University Glee Club alumni. Attorney Bepko was also a member of the Bridgeport Bar Association and the Germania Schwaben Club in Bridgeport.
Attorney Bepko was a man of unquestionable character, integrity and honesty. He had a sincere interest in people, a great sense of humor and was extremely generous and family oriented. He was raised on the East Side of Bridgeport and loved to reminisce about his early years with family and friends. His laughter and larger than life personality will be sorely missed by friends and family.
Survivors include three beloved daughters, Barbara Kish (Mike Fray), Mary Lynn Homkovics (Mike) and Evie Amodio (Ralph) , all of Shelton; six loving grandchildren, Bobby, Nicole, Brittney, Marisa, Gina and Danielle; one brother, Robert Bepko (Helen) of Fairfield; longtime friend, Mary Jo LaChance of Milford; great friend and sister-in-law, Barbara Buffery of Milford; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Frank J. Bepko, M.D. and Attorney Thomas J. Bepko.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at St. Augustine Cathedral where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 pm at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Please visit to leave condolences online.
